Civil War Encampment
Weekend scheduled at the Granger
Homestead
for September 26th and 27Th, 2008.
Visit the Granger Homestead’s Civil War Encampment for
living history at its finest. This
annual event is co-sponsored by the Granger Homestead,
295 N. Main Street
, Canandaigua, and Reynolds’ Battery L, 1st New York Light
Artillery. The re-enactors set up
camp and live on the grounds during the weekend, offering a hands-on look at
Civil War era life.
Admission is $5.00 adults, $2.00 for children 5-12,
preschoolers are free.
Over 900 area students from grade 5 through high school
will visit the event on Friday, Sept. 26th between
9 am
and
1:30 pm
The public is welcome to visit on Friday afternoon from
2 pm
to
4:30 pm
and Saturday from
9 am
to
4:30 pm
to tour the same stations as the students and to chat with re-enactors (no
reservations required). Saturday’s additional attractions include cannon
firings, washer women, infantry, and signal corps.
Brought back this year is the Candlelight Tour, held on
Friday evening at
7 pm
.
Tours
will leave every 15 minutes, reservations are required by calling the
Homestead
. Cost is $ 5.00 adults, $ 2.00
students, under 5 free.
