The Granger Homestead Society announces a concert “A Program of Music” celebrating the recent restoration of their Clementi Pianoforte on April 13th at Four O’clock.
The concert will be held at the Granger Homestead mansion, 295 North Main Street, Canandaigua at 4 pm. Stepania Neonato, Master in Fortepiano performance will play selections from W.A. Mozart, F. Chopin and from the pianoforte creator, Muzio Clementi.
The pianoforte’s first known home in Canandaigua was the Paul House at 39 North Main Street. Its whereabouts from its manufacture in London circa 1822 to its arrival in Canandaigua remain a mystery. It was in poor condition at the time that Anne McKechnie donated it to the Homestead in 1956, but was a suitable instrument to grace the rooms of the 1816 Granger mansion. The instrument was unplayable until its’ recent restoration by Edward Swenson of Trumansburg, New York. Now that this fine old instrument is properly restored, we look forward to an era of exquisite and enjoyable music in the Homestead’s North Parlor.
